The most popular model from a brand long synonymous with classic, high-quality fountain pens, the Kaweco AL Sport has the compact charm of others in the Sport Series—now in aluminum with an anodized rose gold finish. It closely follows the 1935 octagonal design that inspired Kaweco’s slogan—”Small in the pocket, great in the hand”—while improving upon its predecessor’s nib, feed, swap-ability, and overall feel. Tactile types will appreciate the silky finish and pleasant grip. The pen is conveniently pocket-size at 4.1 inches capped, and extends to a comfortable 5.3 inches posted. A pocket clip can add character to the Sport’s sleek profile, but note that it may cause scratches over time.
