Very nice pen, much better hand feel than a Pelikan M215 though the Pel has a better nib. Weighty - I think there’s a brass sleeve in the acrylic body that adds to substantiality. Well done transition from body to section, barely notice the threads. Would give it 5 stars, but the tiny feed keeps drying out on me when pausing too long while taking notes at a meeting. Also seems more designed for cartridge use than with converter due to spring in the barrel.

I thought I was getting a converter as well. My mistake. Nice writer. Good flow. First full size fountain pen from Kaweco. It's a keeper. You should be aware that the spring in the pen barrel, presumably to keep an international cartridge in place, causes ink to spit out of the converter because the spring catches the converter and twists the piston, emptying the ink. What a mess.

Good pen. Medium nib is slightly broader than typical medium nibs. Doesn't come with converter as described, what a bummer.

This has become my go-to pen. It handily knocked out a Platinum 3776 and a Pilot Custom 92 out of standard rotation. It feels substantial without being heavy, and it's perfectly balanced with or without posting. Nib even wrote beautifully right out of the box without needing tuning. Win win win. It also just looks damned beautiful. The Art Deco styling has an air of understated utilitarian class, in the way of Bakelite radios. The polished chrome trim adds a glint of elegance. My one minor gripe (there's always gotta be one, right?) is about converters. But my complaint isn't about how it didn't come with one (they can keep the mini it sometimes comes with); it's about the standard Kaweco converter. While the barrel is certainly long enough to accommodate it and other internationals (Schmidt, etc.,), the spring inside meant to steady an international-small cartridge kept getting caught on the piston handle. Unscrewing the barrel would screw the converter down, making it spit up ink! It was an easy fix -- I just pulled on the spring with some tweezers 'til it came out -- but one I felt I had to mention. I don't think the spring is really necessary, but I get why it's there. If you're the kind of pen user who insists on brand alignment and only uses small Kaweco cartridges in Kaweco pens (as I'm sure Kaweco hopes you will), I can see how the spring is meant to provide a measure of security that's a little more substantial than simply using an empty cartridge as a spacer, as I've seen with other longer Kawecos. Really though...

I had been wanting the Kaweco Dia 2 for a while and Massdrop had a good deal on them. I am very pleased with everything about the pen. I love the vintage look, but with the modern convenience of using bottled inks. The nib is smooth, the added bonus is that you can buy different nib sizes that can be easily swapped out ( they screw in as a unit ) The pen is light weight, but feels quite sturdy and durable. It is very comfortable to grip for long and short writing. I don’t post my pens, but this does post securely and doesn’t come loose or rattle. EDIT - I have had time to use the Dia 2 for a while now, I like it more each time I use it. I’d love to see some in other vintage looking colors, I’d gladly buy another :) If you have a minute, look into the Kaweco Student pen, the “ 70’s Soul “ - orange and cream color is a really great pen. I wouldn’t hesitate to reccommend one to a friend and I’d easily buy another.

Simple yet beautiful pen. Perfectly weighted both when posted and not posted. Feels like it belongs in my hand. I usually don't go for simple black pens but this one is so nice to write with that I am fine with basic black. I do wish Kaweco would expand their color offerings for the Dia2. I also have a Kaweco Student and a Black Al Sport so I purchased all the different nib sizes in replacement units and it is so easy to switch out the nib sizes on these pens. I had to buy a standard international converter to go with the pen since it didn't come with one. I think once a pen has an MSRP of around a $100 it should come with a converter, I understand this is a German pen and the Germans use more cartridges than bottled ink but still....Love it, will keep it, one of my top favorite pens.

TwsbiGirlTwsbiGirl - Check oin Cultpens - The Kaweco Student Pens are very fun. The 70’s Soul color is stunning, even if you’re not a fan of orange.... It is a good looking pen. There prices for many European brands are excellent, definitely compare them to some US sellers. It’s a smooth writer.

Very nice pen. I like good weight and wet nib of this pen. But I couldn't get a converter in the specs of MD, it took a star away. This is cheating the consumer.
