I am an owner of the Leopold FC660M (Topre) keyboard. I just got my Poker II (White with Blue) and I gotta say, the fn + (WASD) for arrows is really tough for me to get used to.
For basic movement it's fine but, I'm on OSX, If I want to highlight a word I generally use shift + options + (left or right) - But with this keyboard it's a CLAW!!!! shift + option+fn+(a or d).
One thing though, it's definitely forcing me to make use of Sublime Text's VIM mode (called Vintage) for movements :D
Just putting that out there for whoever may find it useful. Thanks Droppers
sgnlThat is a known issue with many 60% keyboards that do not have a dedicated set of keys for arrows. That includes the HHKB in the Topre world, and the Poker and similars in the MX side. But thank you for pointing that out.
Just for reference the original Poker, called Poker X, has a lock function that makes the right shift and the three modifiers under it to work as a dedicated arrow block, and it also included the WASD + FN combination for it. So if you are doing some activity that demands arrows heavily you can just active the block and work with them as in any normal full size keyboard. I found this characteristic to be very useful, and that makes me prefer the Poker X over the new PokerII. It has been said that the upcoming Poker III will be fully programmable, so I think that may allow the possibility to program any keys as dedicated arrows in the first layer of the board.
sgnlMaybe you should try changing the placment of the FN key, if you haven't already. Move FN to capslock, and you might find it much easier. Then accessing the wasd arrows is perfectly intuitive. I do this and I find it wonderful. When using the FN keys in the bottom row, I did have trouble too.
