Massdrop closed my support ticket before allowing me to rate it the outcome unsatisfactory.
I didn't discover that I was missing stabilizers until many weeks after I got my drop in the mail. After discovering that the stabs were missing, I emailed Massdrop support on Saturday.
Instead of remedying the issue, they decided to hide behind their cryptic policies. They claimed that since my product didn't come with a warranty (Nowhere on the product page does it explicitly say "This doesn't come with a warranty"), that the only option I could have had was returning it within a 30 day window. Since I just discovered this after the 30 day window Massdrop decided they conveniently don't have to do anything for me.
This result in customer service is the exact reason people don't return to this site. I've been a part of 12 drops, and when I finally need some support because of an issue on one, the company decides that it's better to shaft a customer for a $10 item than to actually try and help them out.
EDIT: Massdrop has helped me out after, I opened a second support ticket query about why my first one was closed. They issued me a partial refund for the inconviences with the stabilizers.
There seems to be something amiss (or I'd like to be corrected if I am wrong). The layouts 1,2,3 use a 2.25U LShift and layouts 4,5 use a 2U LShift which basically shifts the whole row left by 0.25U. On KBDFans, they ask you if you want plate Type A or Type B (depending on the type of layout). There does not seem to be such an option here (in the order page). Is MassDrop showing all types of layouts but not giving a layout specific plate?
rrajarajanYep. Massdrop have shown the different layouts that are available but not given the option to select one of them. My guess would be that any kits that are made would be done with a 2.25u LShift as that's what is shown in the header image.
The point I am making is that this drop has no choice of plates - hence there are layouts that may not be supported by the plates included in this drop.
Question about the July 2019 run (case + plate + PCB): the description only mentions "PCB w/ USB-C", could you please provide a more explicit description of the PCB? Is that a DZ60 rev 3.0?
Just so people are aware, KBDFans sells these keyboards with switches preassembled to your specifications (and with a greater range of case colors and switch types) starting at $148 with free shipping. You can even add some LEDs to your order and ask them to solder them to the board for key backlighting. I have used their assembly service three times and have been quite happy. I have a couple of different variations on this board (DZ60) and they are very nice.
Does the kit come with stabilizers?
Is the PCB the DZ60 v3.0? If so, will the plate + PCB combination support the split space bar layouts? (options 9 and 10 in the layout image below.)
