In case one wants to do it the hard way on Mac/Linux command line....
Get homebrew on Mac. brew install dfu-programmer
Get qmk firmware from GitHub
Be Superuser:
sudo -s
Compile firmware:
make dztech/dz60rgb_ansi/v2:default
Put keyboard in DFU (Device Firmware Upgrade or other meaning of FU.) mode via switch on back of PCB or f1 or f2 and backslash. f1 and f2 can be found to the right of the right alt key.
Erase microcontroller:
dfu-programmer atmega32u4 erase
Flash it:
dfu-programmer atmega32u4 flash dztech_dz60rgb_ansi_v2_default.hex
Reset to running code:
dfu-programmer atmega32u4 reset
MagicSmokeThey offered an amount of money to remedy the situation. I kept the wrong switches and used some really noisy blue box switches from Novelkeys. The most noisy switches ever! The combination makes my new favorite keyboard of the 40+ I own.
Ian, I'm not sure I sufficiently thanked you for your help here. Not sure I would have gotten my keyboard working without this, and earlier today when I hit some weird key combination that borked my keyboard (!) I again referred to these instructions to re-flash and get it going again.
Cheers!
Is it normal that when I plug in the keyboard it makes a high pitched noise? Also my keyboard came with the black DZ60RGBv2 pcb instead of the purple one for some reason. Fits well with the black aluminium case though...
Same question. What the key combination to go through the RGB options. I see all these complicated QMK options. Come on! That's dumb. Most keyboards allow you to change colors with a simple key combination. Any found out?
Should be the reset switch in the middle top of the PCB. You will need the back of case off. Later, you can add a reset key to the firmware you wish to compile if you lack Github fear. There may already be a keystroke combo. Try Fn and Esc.
MagicSmokeYou should have received a shipping notification. Others below as well as myself have received tracking information. If you haven't, I would contact support.
That said, I got the email three days ago and the package has not made it into USPS hands yet.
Also weird that the tracking email says that the package is coming from Drop, Shenzhen China. Typically when Drop says that the package is being shipped out, that means that the items have made it to the US and I didn't see anything in description saying they were coming directly from KBDfans.
EDIT: I'll leave an update here as the drop managers don't seem to be interested in doing so. Judging by the tracking, it looks like the packages have made it to America. We should be receiving our kits shortly baring any holdups with USPS.
EliNI suppose, having ordered things through Drop for a number of years now is to check in from time to time but never expect it to be as soon as I want. It's actually like Christmas for me when I get it then, very exciting.
