mechanicalkeyboards.com is having a sale on all KBParadise keyboards + a promo code for KBParadise boards, because of this the price of the keyboard is around 75 dollars with free shipping. Just a PSA for anyone wanting a cheaper and faster option than massdrop atm. Their sale lasts until the 31st.
TheHeepsterOh God. If only I had known about this sooner. Now I have to decide whether to save money in the short term and get this and be broke til payday or don't and possibly have to spend like 40 or so dollars more later on. Blah.
KangTheMadIt's actually cheaper and faster off mechanical keyboards, you are losing money buying through massdrop. All in all the keyboard costed me 75 dollars with shipping and tax. On massdrop the total was close to 90 dollars.
TheHeepsterWhat switches did you end up going with? I see 3 (well 5) that I would possibly interest in, but of course I would only get one. Gateron red/yellow, cherry mx white, or matias click/tactile.
KangTheMadI got gateron clears, have only heard great things about them. Plus I have wanted to try a set of linear switches for a while, decided might as well jump on the gateron hype train.
TheHeepsterI thought all of the colors lined up with Cherry, and thus I expected my Clears to be tactile. Not at all. Linear, and EXTREMELY light. I end up with a lot of mis-types and chattering of the space bar and punctuation keys. All and all, I'm reasonably happy with it.
tyerkerHaha same as me, my keyboard hasn't arrived yet. But I read into it more and realized it was linear not tactile. Never used a linear so I'm actually quite pleased with this mishap.
KangTheMadI don't know if that drop outlined the switches the same way this one has, but I should have done more research. I was looking for what the Gateron Greens offered, which seems to be similar to the Cherry Clears. It was just odd that Blue, Brown, Red, and Black all line up, and then the weirder switches don't.
I was just hoping to try something equivalent to the Cherry Clears since they sounded like what I wanted on paper. I'll just wait for a Poker or something like that with the legit Cherry switches, and do my research next time. :)
tyerkerWell, there are tactile clear gateron switches that they'll produce periodically, but yeah. It's all kinda confusing. But in general, just make sure to google something before committing to it. I've learned that out the hard way too.
tyerkerTo make things even more confusing, there's a switch manufactured by Gateron called Zealios made by a member of the community. I've never tried them, but apparently they're like way better MX clears.
