I have been playing around with the configuration tool (in lieu of an actual keyboard to play with) and I was wondering if it is possible to put fn where capslock usually is and then put the arrow keys on fn + I, J, K and L. It's kind of disappointing that the translation is not done yet (and I assume they don't need keycaps for that?).
It's possible. I have fn+wasd for arrows and fn+okl; for mouse movement. I'm using the second fn option on caps lock to put me in layer 2 when held down.
Yes you can put Fn wherever you want. I have it set to the right Alt key next to the spacebar so I can access the instantaneous function layer with my thumb. I use Capslock as backspace (Colemak style). I haven't yet figured out the macro function but I'm doing that today and will post anything I discover.
So the instantaneous function layer is what I can use as "fn+some other key = arrow key" for example? It reallz bothers me that the configurator is still not translated.
That's right. Sounds like you found the translation for the Fn menu at least.
I've seen the translation before - the thing is this is going to be my first programmable keyboard and I don't get what the translation means :) English not being my first language probably doesn't help either...
edit: and what happened to scott? the stuff he put together on github is also gone...
He's gone! I bet MassDrop assassinated him.
I wonder if he tooks his toys and went home. The most useful stuff is on the last few pages of the comments, and the TMK github notes that Nanogeek posted are helpful also. I'm with you the translation is a bit confusing, but if you study the standard layout carefully you can get the gist. I've yet to get the macro function to work but I trust it's there.
