Does it reflect the frequency response of the particular song? Like left side move more when bass are played more and right side move more when trebles are played. What i see in the video seems like a random movement that is not in sync with the music played.

I know it is too late for this round, but it absolutely is. I received mine today, and it is a spectrum analyzer, each tube reacts to a different frequency band in near real time.

Must this plug into a device? Or can it run directly off of wall power?

It can run off any USB-C power supply. According to the text, it uses a microphone to sense the sound.

Has anyone been able to get this to work to reflect the sounds being played on a device and not the ambient noise? Or does this thing ONLY sense through the microphone?

Just turn up the volume.
If the ambient noise is louder than the music it will analyze and reflect the cumulative 'frequencies/amplitutde' it hears.
