This is the second time I missed this drop. Where i live the email hits my inbox at around 3:50am. I guess the bright side is that's $1000 I don't have to explain to the wife. In seriousness this 2nd time around after the last drop of 25 units should have been larger. I know it was said these are hard to find in quantity but well over 250 requests and only again 25 units means MD is satisfying less than 10% of possible customers. I am sure that is money lost and bad business.

Money lost? Nope, all units on sale sold, no losses there. Bad business? They've repeatedly put these on sale, and not just left it after the first drop. There's a reason more aren't dropped at a time, but I'd guess the manufacturer has more influence on that, rather than MD.
As an aside, these are really popular, wish I could audition them to decide for myself.

I can't remember if it was Danny_Liu, but someone from MD said in a poll that KEF has a backlog of orders, so they have to source these from vendors rather than the manufacturer. When the drop started, it was 10 units--it looks like they got 25 more almost right away. Fortunately, these sold out drops should persuade more vendors to participate who are sitting on stock that might not move nearly so well at MSRP, and who could use a couple dozen grand in liquidity. It's an easy choice if they're considering putting them on sale for the holiday shopping season, and they don't have to compete against 4K TVs and game consoles for punters' cash. That last bit was for the attractive, well-spoken vendors wisely considering Massdrop for their exclusive wares. Massdrop, it's where we shop.
