plasticapolloNo, I can tell you from painful experience it is not. Unless you plan on splitting the weight of this tent between two backpackers, or going for a very short hike from trailhead to campsite, this is really a car camping tent. That being said, for ~$80 its a great car camping tent for one (I've owned it) and would be perfectly fine for two, as long as you're not stuck in it (foul weather). If you're looking for a real ultralight 2-person tent, look no further than this poll: https://www.massdrop.com/vote/ultralight-2-person-tent?s=tarptent - anything from TarpTent or ZPacks is a great place to start looking, the unorthodox Sierra Designs tents look pretty light as well.
mthayrthe only problem is all these other tents are 3x the cost to get lighter. When you stuck in foul weather are you saying this one leaks or bleeds through?
CytoI've been in full down pours on a misty ocean coast in Maine, with zero issues of this tent leaking. There was some minor condensation, but that was to be expected with two people stuck in the tent all night. I've never experienced the condensation when I've used it solo, although I've only used it solo a handful of times car camping.
mikesyrWasn't implying that it was leak-prone, just that for a car-camping tent, its tight for two people to have to be stuck in if the weather is foul. @Cyto It all comes down to what you're going to use it for. This is a really heavy tent for one person to carry when backpacking 8-9 miles a day in the mountains. But if all your doing is car-camping (maybe a mile, mile-and-a-half hike to the site) on a sunny weekend, this is perfect. YMMV
