KamenramenShame, they are exceptional headphones in every way. If you rather let politics you know very little about get in the way of your own personal enjoyment then I respect that, very selfless of you.
Have you ever been to Russia?

KamenramenI wouldn't conflate this company with the Russian government too quickly. It reminds me of sanctions that hurt the citizens of a corrupt country instead of the corrupt leaders. That said, I don't know if Kennerton is a benevolent company or not, but they probably have nothing to do with the Putin regime. I definitely think we should hold Russian companies to task for any ethical issues they have, but on the same level as other companies around the Globe: The country the company hails from does not mean they agree or are culpable along with the government.

wontonotnowI don't have anything against the Russian people overall. But buying a Russian made product means a WIN for Putin. All the hacking, the tapping, and murder...what is Putin's ultimate goal? To have Russia as a superpower, as a major trade country. Buying a Russian product brings Putin one step closer to that goal. I don't like to buy with politics in mind, but in this case, I HAVE TO.

KamenramenFair enough. It's commendable to apply your morals in your purchasing decisions. On that note, if we find a company that is publicly against their host government's corrupt regime, we should support them. I don't know how vocal companies can be in Russia, but I imagine it isn't very safe for them to speak their minds as other global companies can. I visited Moscow and St. Petersburg for a couple weeks, and can tell you for certain that there are a lot of people and companies that are against the regime...but they aren't in a position to take a stand against it, for fear of reprisal.

KamenramenAgain, have you been to Russia? Are you from a country that has close ties to the Russian government and/or Putin's "reign" in general? If you're going off of the regular media your idea of what happens (or doesn't) in Russia and why may be extremely skewed. Would you refrain from buying American made products because of the way Trump handles politics? I don't mean to prolong the political debate here, matter of fact I will try and not comment further after this but things aren't all black and white.
I agree that Putin tries very hard to make people rely on his products (something that has happened before when for example he pulled tons/all Russian made products from lots of Finnish markets and people couldn't buy butter for a week) but Fischer Audio has been around forever, Kennerton is a ramification of that brand, you probably should not judge the entire country based on your perceived fable of what happens, especially in such a niche market as high-end audio is.

vukovicdI'm not trying to start a political discourse and I agree, this is no place to start one. However, Massdrop is commerce, and if I'm going to buy a product, I have to feel good about it. If I don't like a product, I have every right to say it, just as any Massdrop customer does.

KamenramenYou just started political discussion as you can see. Your reasons not to like product are totally unrelated to product itself, so irrelevant to all unbiased Massdrop customers. Keep your political views for other places and judge product by its characteristics. Discussions like this are not "healty" for Massdrop bussiness.

KamenramenYour initial comment, whilst quite crass, had some basis to it - this one, however, does not. I was giving you the benefit of the doubt by responding with reasonable arguments which you conveniently chose to ignore; now I know why.
Ridiculous.

KamenramenWhat an absurd ridiculous assertion. Why don't you "care" people go look at U.S. history and the firebombing of Atlanta in 1864, firebombing of a hundred cities in WW2, firebombing of Iraq in GW1 and 2, etc. ad nauseam. You have no clue about history and the kinds of terror situations Putin has to deal with. There are bad things in the world, but your level of ignorance is appalling.
