The Kershaw Al Mar AM-5 combines aspects of two proven knife industry stalwarts. Though Al Mar knives are traditionally made with a manual opening mechanism, the AM-5 gets a modern makeover in this new collaboration with fellow Oregon-based manufacturer Kershaw Read More
I love the overall feel of this knife. It feels good in hand. G-10 material is nice as well. Only things I have issues with are the pocket clip is flimsy and the part to flick the knife open is to small and not textured enough to flip it out. Other thank that it’s always a kershaw.
This knife is my favorite everyday carry knife. Fits well in any front pocket and the knife is very well made and has a very easy and slick opening quality that is second to none it’s price range.
I liked the look of the knife but functionally it is not a good knife. The locking mechanism does not work properly and makes the knife unsafe when opened and not locked out. If it does lock out when opened, it’s very difficult to unlock and close. I will not carry this knife.
Great carry knife. One side of the frame is different than the other, I don't know if it's a different material, but has a different feel than the other side and doesn't have the pattern (smooth instead). Feels great in the hand, the slots aren't gaudy or annoying to grip. The finger flip tab is kind of annoying though, a little too small for my taste. Like other people have said, it starts very stiff so adjustments need to be made to find a happy medium. The kershaw blade, like usual, is really good quality; can't ask for much more for this price.
I love kershaw knives. I gave this one four stars because I felt that the one side of the handle on it feels a little cheap..i think it's plastic. I bought this one to replace the previous one I had, that one was all metal and I loved it. For the people saying it's stiff or hard to open, it is, but all you have to do is grab a star hex and loosen it a little until it feels right. Easy fix. I wouldn't buy this particular knife again if I lost it, but I would find another like the first one I had for sure.
