Cheap made in China crap. Shame on Kershaw! Tarnishes what is otherwise a top notch knife manufacturer!

jwr0201You cannot say "cheap made in China crap" when every component of the computer you are using to write that comment IS MADE IN CHINA. This 8cr13mov steel may be somewhat entry level, but with a proper heat treatment and some adequate quenching methodology, Kershaw have made it really well. It's a piece of steel. With a titanium handle. It's going to cut your dinky little cardboard boxes, quit whining.

jwr0201Most knives that say made in Taiwan are really made in China and so are some marked made in USA but all the parts came from China.
nothing wrong with 8cr13mov and I use it in my saltwater tanks and hardly even have rust issue when I do not clean and blades stay sharp

jwr0201I mean. That's been the basic Kershaw brand for a while, right? Other than the Ken Onion stuff and a few other lines, most of their stuff is made in China. The higher end stuff in the KAI portfolio is ZT. Which is not to say that it's bad. The Made in China Kershaw stuff is the best bang for buck in the industry. I've got a ZT 0562CF that's perfect, but it's also a $300 knife. My Kershaw/Emerson collaboration and Hinderer Cryo II were both around $30 and are good enough that there's really not much to complain about. I wouldn't say that they're worse than my Leeks and maybe a little bit nicer than my Skyline (a rather popular model).
