Kershaw and Emerson, two popular knife designers and leading names, are known for their quick-opening series of CQC folders. The manual-opening CQC-4KXL is based on Emerson’s wave-shaped opening mechanism, in which the blade catches on the back of a pocket and deploys as you draw it from your pocket. At 9 inches overall, this is one of the larger in the collection. The blade, made from corrosion-resistant 8Cr14MoV stainless steel, measures nearly 4 inches long for tough tasks. A G-10 handle provides a good hold in adverse conditions. It also has machined holes on both sides, so you can carry it in a left or right pocket and still get the benefits of the Wave feature.
