I got my CQC-7K and it is nice. The WAVE kicks ass. I already ordered the 8K based on how much I like it. One thing that sucked though, the packaging was great, but inside the Kershaw box looked like it was run over by a truck on one end. Some people like to keep their knives in the original boxes for trades, gifts, etc... mine was mashed and torn four different ways, I assume from the Kershaw shipment. Knife is great except for a some scuffs on the polished portion of the blade which is par for the course with China stuff. Luckily this knife is mine and it is going to be abused, so I don't care much. Could not gift it in that mashed to hell box though. My first DROP though, and I don't want mashed boxes.

I also got the CQC-8K because it looks cool, has a larger blade, and is chisel ground like a real Emerson. As cool as it is, it doesn't deploy as well because both sides are G-10 and it has a lot more friction than the stainless steel sides on the CQC-6K and CQC-7K. I can deploy very quickly using the WAVE feature on my CQC-7K but when I do it on my CQC-8K, it gets stuck sometimes and is nowhere as smooth.

Yeah mine is the same. The 7K is just smoother. Probably break-in and lube will help, possibly adjust tension. I recently ordered a Cold Steel Talwar 4" also, so I am eager to try that version of a wave. I know it works well on a friends Ti Lite.
