I got mine today after receiving a message they shipped it yesterday. They previously sent me a message that they sent it a week ago. I found this to be agravating but I believe now it is due to an unfit organization that needs to reorganize and improve its shipping, communication and maybe the way it does business. The knife itself is marked 8100 but the type of steel is not on the blade. I already have a funxion and it has the type of steel it is suppose to have clearly marked on the blade 8cr13. I recently received a questionaire about whether I would recomend Mass drop to anyone else which I marked 0 as I do not feel this company can be relied upon to handle my money and orders on a regular basis. It really scares me because I have a very expensive knife on order now and I am praying that it gets delivered as it was represented. So actually I really dont get what they are actually doing or believe it and think they should just get merchandise and sell it for the lowest price they can rather than carrying on this weird charade.

billyboblewisI wouldn't worry too much I have done 3 other drops and the items came exactly as described, this one seems to be an anomaly.

billyboblewisIt seems likely to me that the handlers - ordinary workers like us - didn't think there was a real difference. Even if someone knew there were different batches with different markings, it's not for certain that they knew that the 'WM's were inferior. Probably the only way you'd ever know is if you get a leak from an insider.

dalethornThe only problem with your theory about them knowing or not without a leak is, this is the second drop in a row that the issue came up on this. They were alerted about it on the first drop.

ChadwThey were alerted OK, but who are they? I was just saying that they could be way down the line from who originated the mixing of these versions. And whoever mixed them might be far enough from someone who has authority to issue a recall, that I wonder who really knows. Does Kershaw have a statement on this - not just on the Massdrop purchase, but on the different versions? If Kershaw isn't saying, then maybe it passed out of their hands to someone else. Gosh, if I had gotten the WM version, I'd probably just blame myself for ordering a $20 knife. But thanks to you and the other alert people here, I got to validate what I got. So I'm grateful for this information, but I hope more customers ring up Kershaw and get an answer, so everybody will know.

dalethornI am going to assume it was the guys in china that mislabeled the boxes to meet a quota or something, also if you decide to keep a 8100WM its more like a 15 dollar knife.

dalethornIf you scroll way back in the discussion here, it was discovered and discussed here. Massdrop even replied to the issue and it wouldn't be repeated on this drop.

ChadwAll I can find is them stating that this drop was for the 8100 not the 8100WM, kershaw mixed in some 8100WMs by accident and to contact support if you get the wrong version, also they found out abut this issue after the knives for this drop shipped from kershaw.

ForrestJohnsonCheck again.. Josy650s posted 13 days ago that he had in fact received the incorrect one from the previous drop. Nelson with Massdrop acknowledged their was an alleged error, claiming it was on Kershaw, but assured the community that this drop was correct 6 days ago.

ChadwKershaw got started on the shipment 16 days ago, there is no post abut the incorrect knives 6 days but 7 days ago Nelson said they ordered 8100s, if massdrop ordered 8100s but got 8100WMs mixed in with them thats kershaws fault.

ChadwWhats your point? Kershaw began shipping before 3 days before that post.

ForrestJohnsonMy point is, you said "There was no post about the incorrect knives"... Keep trying you shill. This drop didn't ship until after that, it might have shipped from Kershaw, but Massdrop still had the opportunity to double check the shipment since there was a known issue.
I want to see the purchase agreement between Massdrop and Kershaw, especially with the way your defending them. I bet they didn't buy what they advertised.
But hey, its your lie, tell it how you want.

ChadwThat was a typo: "there is no post abut the incorrect knives 6 days AGO but 7 days ago Nelson said they ordered 8100s"
You really expect massdrop to every single knife to check the model number? And even if they did what could they do not send people anything? They did what they could they contacted kershaw to find out what happened and offered refunds.
And if massdrop ordered 8100WMs why are people receiving 8100s? Either way someone screwed up.

ForrestJohnsonIn my opinion the good version is an awesome buy for $20, but a version with the 2 accessory tools that don't lock securely? That's not a good deal at $10, let alone $15.
