I just checked it too, because I knew switchblade types were illegal but all this spring assisted talk got me worried. It seems as long as its not actuated by centrifugal force or gravity, and the spring actuation is started manually, but not by a button, it is legal.
The section of the Canadian code that covers it is, (84)(1)(b) "any knife that has a blade that opens automatically by gravity or centrifugal force, or by hand pressure applied to a button, spring or other device attached to the handle of the knife" So since the actuator is on the blade of the knife it shouldn't be a problem.
