I just received my chive yesterday and I just wanted to mention that it was loaded with grease and was really tightly screwed together so the assisted function could only open the knife part way before it got jammed. I took it apart and got most of the grease out and fine-tuned the torque on the screws and now it functions flawlessly. So if anyone receives their knife and it is really greasy and doesn't work as expected there is a simple fix that only requires a torque bit and some paper towel.
It was a little disappointing to receive the knife in this condition, and I hope I am only one of a select unlucky few, but having owned two other Kershaw Speed-Safe knives (Leek's) I knew it was a simple fix.
Let me know if any of you need guidance in taking the knife apart. Don't be afraid of the spring assist as it's just a torsion bar that is not under any pressure with the knife in the open position, it will not fly apart or anything like that.
ScottyTripleSorry it came that way in the first place, but thanks for the great tip!
