What I want to know is has anyone ever had a thumbstud or flipper catch on anything besides your pants pocket? Advertising the absence of a feature like it was a good thing drives me batpoop crazy.
I've been carrying a folding knife daily for at least a decade now, and I've never had a thumbstud or flipper get caught on anything. A flipper can scratch other items in your pocket, but I generally get pants with a deep enough watch pocket that I just can clip my knives there. I've had issues with pocket clips getting caught on things, but this knife does nothing to address that. My solution again is the watch pocket. It generally means the knife is higher, and below the level of bottom of my shirt. This helps with not advertising that I have a knife, and helps keep it from getting caught on things.
Duluth Trading Co pants are pretty great for having deeper watch pockets, big enough for average sized folding knives. Works great for my FF/Massdrop Crux, for instance, even with a deep carry clip.
I have one pair of jeans, I am sure they are not DTC, that has a very deep watch pocket. I really like it, too. I will check out the DTCs when I need another pair. And thank you for reinforcing my suspicions about the thumb studs and flippers.
It's all in the spin in advertising! Lol!
Not for the reasons listed, but I've all but stopped buying knives with thumb studs mainly because they can get in the way when sharpening.
I had trouble with that just a couple of days ago. I can't recall which knife that it was, but the thumb stud was certainly in the way.
