I am very not familiar with knives, but I am looking for one for overall use in the outdoors. Is this overkill, or is this exactly what this is meant to be for? Seems so.. nice for a tool?

SP27It really depends on what you mean by "outdoors use". If you're planning to do bushcraft and survival stuff then no, I would not use this knife. You would want a knife with a full tang. This means the knife blade extends to the of the handle. Full tang knives are less likely to break when processing wood, game, and/or any other activity. Speed assist knives also have a higher risk of breaking due to the the amount of moving parts.
There is a Landi knife on MD right now, it has the general traits people look for when buying an out doors knife. -full tang -good sheath -pretty good steel https://www.massdrop.com/buy/landi-bushcraft-knife
If you are going to use any of these knives as a EDC(everyday carry) I would highly suggest looking up the knife laws/policy in your area.
