For its size, the Kershaw Skyline is one of the lightest knives on the market. While it measures more than 7 inches overall, the folder weighs in at just 2.5 ounces, which makes it effortless to carry and virtually unnoticeable in your pocket Read More
I really like the Skyline knives. Yes the standard stainless is basic Chinese stock and honestly the upgrade to “Damascus” is really steep for what you get in performance IMO. That said, I have this knife and have no complaints but will acknowledge that others complaining about how well it flips have a semi-valid complaint. The reason I say “semi” is that I believe that you should through a little wrist action into any knife you are trying to power open, especially if you believe that you might have to use it defensively. I have knives flippers that pop open like an assisted blade with no wrist action, but under stress trying to deploy quickly I have had my best flipper fail and ended up cut and the person I was trying to help choked for a couple more seconds while I figured it out (hoodie cords caught on a branch). Just like serious use AR’s should always be slightly over gassed to maintain 100% cycling even if your weapon gets dirty a little wrist pop makes sure your knife has the best chance to reach a good lock up.
This knife is not all that great. The flipper action sucks and the Damascus doesn't look real. I have never understood the hype on this knife. These days there are so many better options for this price.
RocketgiI had this knife and sold it. Wasn't really a huge fan of it, the poor flipping action being the biggest reason.
The damascus is good quality however. It's done by Alabama Damascus and is indeed real "damascus".
OK knife for the price. Flipper opens the blade about half way. I tried to switch the pocket clip to tip up and the screws were in so tight that I ruined my torx bit.
SimplemindedRobKershaw uses some weird voodoo magic on their clips unfortunately — they don’t have any visible loctite that I ever see but it will ruin any bit that it comes across and will strip very easily. The hardware on kershaw knives is less than good and they’re so soft that if you ever drop your knife and take any kind of scratches on those screws, those screws will be there forever. I can’t switch the clip on two of my cryos and they have been wrenched and needle nose pliered and all. The clip stays where it’s put and so so some of the scale screws unfortunately. Kershaw could make better screws or carry better screws and I’d be more inclined to buy more knives from them, with the intention of carrying blade sheathed against the seam of the pocket and tip up carry. Kershaw knows this but still has so many knives with the backwards setup that they won’t change it unless they are making the knife circa 2017 and on I’ve found. I love kershaw but I really really hate those screws more than anything and it’s been a huge turnoff for me and a couple buddies that like to put our own scales or clips on , or at the very least, switch the clip to the appropriate place for our preferred carry — they put the screws there for us to switch, but don’t make it easy for us!!!
Decent price if you aren't in a hurry. I have this knife already and it's a very nice American made Kershaw. Very affordable option if you want to add Damascus to your collection.
I have both a Damascus and regular Skyline. The Damascus model gets a razor sharp edge that will rust so I am assuming some carbon steel content. I don’t use it hard so can’t vouch on its toughness. It’s a Skyline...not a hard use Benchmade or Emerson.
