It's a Kershaw
I'm sure everyone has their thoughts on Kershaw. Most of their knives are made in China and are just "meh" in quality and performance. However, when you can find an American made Kershaw, you usually get your money's worth. Still considered a budget blade, but the quality is worth more than what you pay. This has become one of my favorite Kershaws.

Flimsy
Why have a flip tab at all? Even oiled up it doesn't flip easy, and if you loosen it its all wobbly, very disappointed.

Didn’t live up to reviews
Maybe I got a lemon- but holy smokes this thing is garbage. Blade was not centered, the action was horrific, and it wasn’t all that sharp when it arrived. There are a ton of people singing the praises of this knife, but I doubt it’ll come out of the drawer very often. Every other product I’ve received from Drop has been good until this one.

A great knife. Super slim blade stock plus a hollow grind give it super slicing powers. The 14C28N steel is quickly becoming a favorite of mine. It reminds me a lot of VG-10 or 9Cr18MoV. Takes a wicked edge and will hold it, a little coarse or polished smooth. Very nice knife for slicing open packages and other little slicey tasks. Will stab something in a pinch, but opening cans shouldn't be a daily task. The spear point really stiffens it up, and makes for easy directional control. I do not like the action as much as I want to. It isn't drop-shut smooth, unless you really loosen the pivot. I have taken it apart, polished the washers, lubed everything up, and put it back together, but it still isn't super smooth. one side just rubs the G-10 and it isn't as smooth as others. I wish Kershaw would update the design and at least put some plastic ones between the bronze washers and the scales/liners, a la' RAT1 and 2, but I am not gonna hold my breath. EDIT: as this has broken in, I have come to really like this knife. The action loosened up, the washers have smoothed out even more, and it finds itself in my shorts pocket or a daypack quite often. the sliciness of the blade thickness, grind, and good steel all makes up for it. I would really give it 3.5-3.75 stars, but i rounded up. The lightness always helps. Really not a big deal, though it may be a deal breaker for some, is the grittiness of the G-10 when pulling it out of the pocket. All that grip in the hand tears up pockets. I find myself taking off the clip and just carrying it free. I seriously do not know why any manufacturer uses anything but deep-carry clips anymore.. Great grip/hold, the relative corrosion resistance of the design and just all-around good performance make this great. The flipper tab, or Jaws fin, is atrocious. It is huge on either side, and when closing, it is always in the way. This is a difficult 1-handed knife. EDIT: I’m warming up to non deep-carry, as long as it sits fairly low. I took the clip off and let it sit loose in my pocket. The flipper tab is huge, but the finger guard it makes is nice. It could be smaller, but you get used to it. In the end, this easily deserves 4 stars. The thumbstuds that mitigate torsional loads and are still usable, to the great little blade. OG gent carry on a budget. TL;DR Like I said, not a deal-breaker for me, but not what I expected. A great blade at a great price, light enough to carry in shorts, can take it to the beach in a pinch, and use it all day long if need be, and sharpen it when you get home, or really just strop it. Good daily knife.

Fun, light, and gets better over time
It has a great, low profile feel to it. Grippy handle that you know won’t slip. Not flashy, wonderfully utilitarian. If you need a simple locking blade knife, this is what you need.

I used to own an orange skyline, and it was my favorite edc, but somehow I lost it, maybe on a camping trip or something, so when I saw this one, I had to buy it. The black g10 looks way better than the orange, and the black pocket clip versus the silver i had before. i love this knife, and its so cheap. so lightweight. came out the package sharp. flipper was tight out the box, but a little lube fixed that pretty quick.

Interesting, historical knife
Visually the balance of blade to handle is over balanced to blade mostly in height. Even though description of the knife even from Kershaw, say it needs a little wrist to deploy, it is still frustrating at times especially with the large flipper tab. It came sharp and is a very light knife. I also think it is a small piece of modern folder history.

Great value EDC knife
I'm a Kershaw fan, let's start there. I've been carrying a Kershaw Shuffle as one of my EDC options for so long I don't actually remember when I purchased it. With that in mind, I bought the Skyline as another option, and I'm not disappointed. The operation is smooth and one-handed, both opening and closing. The blade comes sharp, holds an edge reasonably well, and is easy to sharpen. The one thing some people might not like is that it has an aggressive handle texture. Combined with a relatively tight clip, this makes it slightly harder to get in and out of a pocket. The flip side of this is that I have zero concerns with it falling out on its own. I will definitely carry it as my backcountry pocket knife for that reason, and for the fact that it is very light and slim. This knife is a great value in my humble opinion.
