I agree, it's a bit insulting when any advertiser says the MSRP is xxx , in this case $170, and in two seconds you can go to the Manufactures website and plainly see that their full retail, everyday, no discount, MSRP is $130. The one thing you can't buy is integrity. As much stuff as I have purchased, and as much as I like from Massdrop; I'm surprised they are not taking our repeated comments to simply post accurate pictures of the product, post authentic MSRP, check to see what a product commonly sells for and if you can't at least match that price, don't even offer it. Yes, I understand, if they sell a boat load they can offer a better price, so the price is quite variable. Best deal possible here seems to be $100, if enough people commit at that price. I really like this feature to Massdrop, I can commit if it drops to $100, or buy in right now at $105.
Since we are talking honesty, integrity and truth in advertising, how about dropping some of the other sales-gimmicks, like saying everything is $xxx.99 cents. One of the many things I like about Massdrop is that it is a different business model. It appeals to many of us that like so much about it, is its refreshingly honest, for example; I have high confidence this post I'm submitting right now, which is highly critical of some Massdrop practices, will likely not be edited or deleted. I will check, and have been checking, and none of my critical posts have been deleted yet. I really like this honesty, and I think being part of something like this is even worth waiting a little longer, maybe paying a little more for shipping, or even a bit more on some items; but I think Massdrop could do a little better. If there was only one legitimate deal a month; I'd be much happier with that, and a flurry of semi-good deals everyday/week.
If this knife dropped to $80, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

ConsumerAdvocateThanks for bringing up the issue of MSRP. We didn't intentionally mis-state it and have corrected it thanks to these posts.
MSRP is a funny thing, because there are some companies that deceivingly inflate it and then never sell it at that price. There are also companies that have an MSRP but none of their retailers or distributors actually adhere to it. I would say that the Outdoor industry has a pretty strict control over prices and most of the time, most companies have most products for sale at full MSRP. I think within the tech and maybe knife worlds that might not be the case.
MSRP is not street price - sometimes those are the same dollar amount, sometimes they are wildly different.
Thanks again for posting. We would love to be able to offer this knife at an even better price but that's just not possible. They're handmade just down the road from us in the SF Bay Area by Kestrel Knives which is a one-man show, and there is no retail markup that you'd see in a mass produced item.
DannyMilksThanks for this insight and feedback.

I do not like the tendency to inflate the MSRP. I can order from Kestrel for $129.99. By inflating the MSRP it makes it seem like you are trying to get one over rather than offering what is a decent discount on what looks to be a nice knife.

I'm a bit confused by the comments here, is this made of TI or AEB-L steel?
SlobloThis is the titanium version.
