Escape the tedium of milk-and-cereal mornings with The Keyboard Waffle Iron. Describing it as “CTRL+ALT+DELicious,” the brains behind this quirky homage to QWERTY has combined all the elements of a top-notch waffle iron—die-cast aluminum exterior, nonstick interior—with a faithful rendering of a standard keyboard. Equipped with heat-resistant Bakelite handles, it features a wireless design that allows it to be used over any heat source, from the kitchen, to the grill, to the campfire.
Note: This drop is limited to 50 units.
Included with The Keyboard Waffle Iron is a free recipe book—digital, of course—that features classic, paleo, vegan, and gluten-free recipes. But why limit the fun to waffles? The KWI can be used to make keyboard quesadillas, keyboard crab cakes, keyboard carrot cake, keyboard cookies—the menu is endless! Simply channel the creative spirit of The KWI, and your imagination will do the cooking.
This whimsical device is the brainchild of Chris Dimino, who designed The Keyboard Waffle Iron for a project at the Manhattan-based School of Visual Arts. Modeled after one of the most iconic keyboards of all time—the Corona-matic typewriter—The KWI went viral after a digital prototype of it surfaced on the Internet. To say demand for it was high would be an understatement. Dimino soon launched a Kickstarter campaign, which amassed 33% more than the $50,000 it sought, and his blueprints came to life. Whether you’re a keyboard connoisseur, a breakfast buff, or simply someone with a sense of humor and creativity, The KWI doesn’t disappoint.
