Alright, I'm ready to be schooled: - why aluminum? - why not magnetic? - why anodized? - why only one color available? - is it scratch proof against metal tweezers? - is it drop tested (HA HA) - why 7cm diameter? - why 1.3cm tall? - why $36?

somePurchaser- why aluminum? cheap to machine and manufacturer, CNC in this case - why not magnetic? because now you need to probably attach a neodynium magnet to penetrate the aluminum, which would require, adhesives and cost more and be failure point. - why anodized? assuming they do not leave a machine cut finish, it is most likely orbital sanded on flat plate, which some like, some don't, it is hard to O.S. a bowl, machine finish depending on cutting tool and depth/ speed of cut can have varying finish that can look good if you like it or not. Also O.S. can hold dirt/ oil. Anodizing will make it non-conductive and generally will make a more production look for relatively cheap. - why only one color available? cheap - is it scratch proof against metal tweezers? if they are softer than the anodized coat, then no, sometimes you can hard coat anodize, this does not appear to be a hardcoat anodizing. s.s. is harder than Al, and it will most likely scratch anodizing, tweezer tip = high pressure - is it drop tested (HA HA) ? What does it matter, 7075 is pretty resilient, 6061 is pretty resilient compared to the low weight..you will ding it. - why 7cm diameter? so you can conveniently put a grand total of 10x switches - why 1.3cm tall? keycap accessibility as opposed to something really deep, build cube of raw material, less material less cost, less machining of a pocket that has material removal - why $36? ? good question

I was going for the link you posted, either that or a baby food jar, but I saw that 9 people had already bought so I thought it better to open my mind. The Reddit likes thing is a good answer. Thanks!
Is this just Rama’s tray design?

That's correct. Is it possible for something to be both anodized and magnetic? One thing to note: the trays are smaller than the impression they give from photos. Both the Rama and Keycadets trays are 70mm x 70mm.
NoodleDrinker888I mean... trays are pretty common throughout human history?

What a coincidence! Just the this morning I woke up wondering how I could piss away thirty-six bucks and then wait a month or so to realize the result. Thanks X-Massdrop!

EthanCalderI would agree with you if you add "for the price" at the end of that sentence.
to anyone who bought this, I question your money spending habits. $36 + shipping + it comes at the end of the year and could easily be delayed with covid. this thing has the same exact functionality as any bowl. please dont waste your money on this shit. the cool thing about this would be the cool design of an astronaut. too bad its on the bottom and you'll never see that shit.

Are the screws included, or will they be featured in a subsequent drop?

My grandpa used to use old ice cream bucket lids for this purpose. While stylistically that fell behind, you can't beat the price.

WojciechGacYou just don't understand what the drop is. It's like that ash tray your kid made in art/pottery class back in the day. You know...it was supposed to be a bowl or something... This is what the hipsters make now and hope for approval from their parents.

Why? Is there something I am missing? No magnets, no rubber bottom, no major name branding , no beer, and/or hot women promoting it.... Why would anyone buy this? You can go to the dollar store and pick up about 36 small glass glass or metal containers for this price to do the same. Recycle some container you already have like any normal person. I am looking at my empty drink can thinking I should cut it in half and sell the bottom for $20 as a screw holder.

shamoneyThanks. I do try to recycle when I can. I like to do crafts melting down HDPE to do things like this odd drop is for. I give them to people at work to use to hold paper clips and things too. I also do the same for melting and casting aluminum scrap. Some can argue the cost of melting the aluminum along with the pollution of melting the paint off cans negate it. I still find it a fun hobby and gives a lot of things new life that would otherwise end up in the garbage.
