About the Alt-codes in Windows: they're not universal. I can use Alt-codes in Word, but I need to press the spacebar after the code for the resulting character to display. The codes do nothing on Notepad or Eclipse so that was a big disappointment for me.
Is that only with this particular keypad, or do you see this with multiple keypads?
The only other external numpad I've used is the one included in the wireless Microsoft Sculpt desktop that also includes the mouse but that one cheats: it sends the proper numpad codes if it is used with the Alt key from the keyboard that comes with it. Use it with another keyboard and it won't send the proper numpad codes, at least within Windows 7.
