Almost bought one, but found out the black keycaps are sold out. So, I'll wait for a future drop. Massdrop folks, please note my interest in black keycaps.
Technoroninme too, almost... :-)
Massdrop, I will wait for Keycool 84, black case, with really cool backlight keycaps they had once , white backlight and clear cherry mx switches.
TechnoroninNot sold out -- just not available during this drop:
"Note: [...] only White Top Printed PBT keycaps are available."
That being said, we're all going to be putting after-market caps on this bad boy... who cares about the stock caps? ;P
IacoizumiThere is a problem with right Shift, right Alt,Ctrl, Fn, PageUp, PageDown and End keys. They all non-standard sizes. I bought Vortex PBT front printed and succeeded to replaced only main alpha-numeric set. Plus I have added a window with light-pass for caps-lock led to be able to replace it together with Enter key. I believe You can replace all keys only with DSA keycaps set. Standard OEM set simply doesn't have caps you will need. Now lets find DSA set with caps for backlit keyboard. And even if you will not use backlight, you will need LED holes with light-pass for Caps-Lock, F12, PrtScr/Nmlk and Pause/ScrLk. Not a simple story...
TofigOh, totally agreed: attempting to dig up R1 Delete, R2 PageUp, R3 PageDown, and R4 End caps for an OEM or SA set would be a nightmare. But, assuming you're comfortable with a DSA set, or replacing those troublesome caps with blanks, finding a 1.75U right shift along with 1U Alt, Ctrl, and Function keys isn't totally unheard of. Something like a Tsangan kit would cover the shift, and with the recent prevalence of ergodox/planck specific kits, I can't imagine it would be all that difficult to find 1U modifiers.
I totally disagree with your claim that I would "need" caps that feature LED windows for the F12, PrintScreen, ScrollLock and CapsLock keys though. I use the Galaxy Class keycap set at home on my daily driver, and I honestly don't miss the LED windows all that much.
IacoizumiThere's a group buy for the SA Honey key set on desk authority right now that includes the correct profiles for those extra keys. Will probably take a year to ship though.
IacoizumiBTW, you can make a window for LED in the cap by using hot paper clip and transparent toothpicks/forks. Transparent toothpicks plastic behaves like a light-pass, so if you will make a hole with hot paper clip and then, when it is still warm, push into the hole the toothpick (make sure that it goes out from another side), you will make a nice small window where LED lights will be seen. I did it for my keyboard with PBT front printed caps, it is not as bright as original windows, but it is still good enough to see if LED is on or off.
gnarlsaganOh! I like round keycaps, so if it will be also sculptured and will cover the whole keyboard, I will be in. Hope colors will be good as well.
gnarlsaganHa! A year for Round 5A sounds a little optimistic. I joined Round 5 in December of 2013, and only just received the caps a few months ago. Thanks for the heads up about the CURSOREXTRA kits though -- hadn't seen those before, definitely piqued my interest!
