is this DAC a good option for sensitive in-ear phones like the shure se846?

It should be fine for moderately sensitive headphones. From (https://headfonics.com/khadas-tone2-pro-review/), it has a 3.5mm single-ended output capable of 125mW into 32Ω.

"Balanced RCA out"? Must be a typo, maybe "Unbalanced RCA out"?

It's actually balanced, but you need the special cables, Khadas sells them on their site. https://www.khadas.com/shop?Category=Balanced+RCA

FrogmeatWow, that is... interesting. "Compatible with standard RCA plugs and cables" - I guess that means if you plug in a regular RCA plug you just get the hot and ground.

MonetsChemistBy the way I actually did go to the link you sent which just shows the "balanced RCA to XLR-3 cable" and the "balanced RCA connector".

MonetsChemistYeah, I should have mentioned you have to open the connector page for those pics and some info. And yes, standard RCA connectors do like you said.

FrogmeatDon't be sorry! My fault, should have investigated further. I admire greatly their stance about patenting the connector and keeping it open source. Way to go Khadas folk.
