Thank you for that comment, Chomiq.
I have also read a rumour that Kinera X Massdrop might be in the works.
So I may try to wait on purchasing a second pair, if that is the case.
As noted below in my review, I REALLY like these IEMs.
It's hard to resist picking up a second pair.
Right now, I am looking at possibly purchasing a pair of Rose Tech. Marguerites, the build looks very nice and, while limited, I have read that they sound excellent.
Rose build is average at best. I had their Cappuccino Mk. II's as my daily drivers for about two weeks before I started to notice build issues, and I really baby my IEMs. I find my H3 to be far sturdier despite being half the cost.
Thank you for that.
How is the sound?
well... as you can see below, I posted up my review of the H3.
I was, indeed, asking about the Rose sound.
I find myself wondering if the Marguerite is also bass heavy.
You can tell by my reviews here that I'm a fan of neutral.
I tend to be one of those guys who wants to hear the music as it was recorded, then use EQ, if I feel like an adjustment will make me happier.
Nice reviews, man.
How'd you get started, if I may ask?
One day, if I have the time,(which may be, NEVER,lol), I'd love to do reviewing of audio gear for some entity or other.
Thanks for the compliments. Glad you liked them.
I started out just reviewing the (rather crappy) stuff I already had, then began to reach out to various companies. I had to be quite persistent. The first couple weeks or so of my career were spent sending tons of emails every single day. I rarely got responses at first, but I've now made a really good reputation for myself so I don't have too hard a time finding something new to review.
TL;DR just be persistent.
I need to build a bigger “portfolio” of reviews, I think.
If my job allowed for more free time, I might do better with that.... being on staff in a University E.R. makes having free time tricky.
I have a pretty decent pile of gear that realistically deserves reviewing, and is current enough to have interest for consumers. I suppose puttering around here and on Headfi is as good a place to start as any. The couple of times I had a shot at doing a review, they were looking for a body of reviews, which absolutely makes sense. Need to get cracking on that.
Thanks for the replies.
If you ever want a guest reviewer, let me know.
Sure. A portfolio is definitely important. Having a notable presence on Head-Fi is very important, and was instrumental in me actually being able to get my own publication off the ground. You can definitely just post them there.
And time is crucial. I work two jobs + attend university, so I understand what its like not have it. Good luck!
Check out their facebook page. They're just about to launch a promo with $79 for H3 (with shipping).
I am DEFINITELY going to check it!
Really interested to see what's in store for the v.2 now.
The rumoured Massdrop X H3 is a tantalizing idea.
