For those that type with two-part split Ergo keyboards, ergonomics are quite literally the name of the game. With the new Advantage360 board, Kinesis has taken the level of play to new heights Read More
That's what somebody asked but then their post got deleted. My short answer is: I have an Ergodox EZ that is super awesome (and I love the Kailh Box Whites on it). But without the concave keywells of my Advantage2, typing on it is less comfortable and I have to move my hands around to hit all the keys. The Ergodox is a _huge_ improvement over a non-ergonomic keyboard (or even a very basic ortho split keyboard that lacks thumb clusters), but the concave keywells of the Advantage2 are a big enough improvement that the Ergodox gets zero use on my main system.
I own two advantage 2 boards (home & work). I'll never go back to a "normal" keyboard. These are *AWESOME*. The spacing, the concave key wells, it made a huge difference for the pain that was growing in my forearms during the pandemic because of increased time on my keyboards. I took the opportunity of the switch to the advantage 2 to learn another layout. I now type with "Dvorak" on these two guys and I really enjoy it. One caveat: It took 4 months to relearn to type. But I am now cruising at 70wpm with Dvorak. Kinesis KB are awesome and this one looks really sweet. Just be ready for a learning curve, your typing speed will collapse when you switch. But with daily training, you can get back to 20-30wpm in 2 weeks and then more time to climb. The level of comfort though is incomparable. That's another league. You just need to be patient with it. The switch is not an overnight affair.
I see MX Browns on the only photo showing the switches. Are they the only choice ? There is no mention of the switches in the description. How can this be ?
Can the wireless version be used with a wire as well? I want a wired keyboard with the ZMK engine, and ZMK appears to only come with the wireless version.
For the Pro edition, are the batteries replaceable to counter eventual degradation? Alternatively, will we be able to just leave it plugged in all the time to bypass the need for battery power?
