Comfort is Kinesis: Play & Type Exactly How You Want

Kinesis has been a leader in split keyboards for over a decade. Its latest, the Freestyle Edge is a split keyboard outfitted with your choice of Cherry MX switches for just the feel you want. It features nine fully programmable, dual-layer layouts that can be customized via intuitive onboard shortcuts or an easy-to-use GUI for Windows and Mac. The 20-inch braided cable offers maximum separation and configurability, and there’s Blue LED backlighting for a little pop. What’s more, the keyboard comes with eight programmable macro keys, optional game mode and NKRO Mode, a 1-millisecond response time, and 4MB of onboard memory. Feel free to add palm supports or a lift kit at checkout to get the most ergonomic setup possible. There's also an extra-large mouse pad and the all new RGB gaming mouse if you really want to deck out your desktop.

Note: At checkout, you’ll have your choice of Cherry MX Blue or Brown switches. You can also add Palm Pads (+ $10), a V3 Pro Kit without palm supports (+ $20), a Lift Kit with palm supports (+ $20), an XL Mouse Pad (+ $20), and a Vektor RGB Gaming Mouse (+ $35). The V3 Pro Kit cannot be used with palm supports.

Why Use a Split Keyboard?

Split keyboards are popular with software engineers and other serious typists because, unlike a conventional keyboard, they can adapt to your physiology, preferences, and work space. Position the key modules at shoulder-width to reduce shoulder and neck tension, and independently rotate and/or tent the modules to reduce wrist and forearm strain. If you’re gaming, you can move the right module off the desk completely for more mouse room, too. When you spend 8 or more hours a day on a keyboard, small improvements in comfort can have lasting effects on productivity and performance. But you'll have to see for yourself to find out.
