spr0k3tThey keys are ABS. To be honest, they are not the worst feeling but they do feel like the cheap chinese ABS keys once you pull them off. I have some Thick PBT keys I think I am going to try. I had noticed now that I am working from home that they keys are getting slippery. It isn't something that needs fixed upon arrival.
This doesn't mean it is a bad keyboard though. I love it for gaming and actually stopped using my Logitech G13 because of this. I need to fiddle with the left side macro keys more as I always forget I have them. The build quality is excellent and I really like the lifter kits.
I have early carpal tunnel and this keyboard helps manage it. There is a huge difference in comfort during long typing or gaming sessions.
captainrkirkMany thanks for double checking on this. I'm getting this to replace my last piece of microsoft thing (the ergonomic keyboard obviously) in my workdom. I already have several keyboards with PBT caps and the feel is definitely worth it. I'd spend an extra $30 for a good PBT set pre-installed.
spr0k3tThis is a really good price for this keyboard. The kickstarter had it for $170.00 but we had to pay $20.00 on top for shipping. Even with a new set of keycaps you will still come in cheaper than an ErgoDox, which in my own opinion, is not ergonomic at all. It was designed to be a split keyboard with the same key spacing used on a planck. It might be "ergonomic" to someone who doesn't have issues that usually prompt people to buy a split keyboard in the first place but it was uncomfortable for me and I would rather use a standard keyboard. I also have large mitts for hands so key spacing is important.
Kinesis has been in the ergonomics market for years and that was why I trusted joining the Kickstarter drop.
captainrkirkI had an ErgoDox and I wasn't too happy with the ortholinear layout even after using it for over a month as my only keyboard. I have a similar issue with carpal tunnel... it gets pretty bad when you are a programmer.
spr0k3tI agree on the ErgoDox; at work (software dev) I've used a Kinesis Freestyle as my daily driver keyboard for ~8y (it has helped my carpal tunnel massively) so I picked up an ErgoDox thinking it would be the next level of comfort. I didn't find it that way at all, and actually found it downright annoying.
I jumped on this buy, I was considering buying one just last week but wanted cherry browns. I almost bought two, one for home and one for work!
