I have the 500Gb version of this drive. It is a good solid drive.
Oddly Kingston decided to make this drive pretty. The case is probably one of the best looking drives around - if you are putting this in a desktop with a window, you can show off the drive. Inside a laptop or a closed case, not so much. If you like things that are well made - this is one of the best drive cases around.
On the Mac install question - cloning a drive is built into the operating system. There is no software to buy or download. The process is incredibly easy. It gets even better if you use Time Machine for your backup.
On the question of connecting the drive to clone it - just buy a USB3 drive enclosure. They are cheaper than a SATA to USB adapter. You can find an enclosure for around $15 any day of the week on Amazon. Just buy the cheapest one you can find, they all work for cloning.
If a Mac has a 2.5 inch drive inside it already, installing this drive into that computer (laptop or desktop) is really easy. You'll need a Torx T6 screw driver to remove the mounting screws (and of course a small Philips head screw driver). If you happen to strip or mess up the tiny screws on a MacBook Pro, they are about $5 or 10 on Amazon for a replacement set.
