I have one of these. My wife and I used wine, beer and liquor bottles as vases at our wedding. You can absolutely duplicate the results with a regular $4 glass cutter but it's much more difficult and time consuming. This thing is pretty legit. However, the blue silicone rubber band thingy broke when I tried doing it on a Svedka 1.75L bottle and that was about the limit for the width of the Kinkajou itself. I wish we'd had those bottle straps. End of the day though, this thing makes glass cutting super simple, it's an easy process once you get the hang of it, and the results were great. It took longer to sand all the bottles than to cut them (and we weren't finishing them for drinking vessels, either). True, you can't do off bottles like a Jack Daniels bottle, but I was able to do a Bulleit Bourbon bottle. It was difficult but it worked.
