So, now that this is available again- can one of the previous MDers let us know how well it works?
The sanding part sounds tedious, but I guess if it makes a perfect cut there wouldn't be too much sanding involved?

The product works well. The tool is actually much larger than I expected, and looks and feel extremely durable. Although, I was expecting this to be more like a pipe cutter. However, this bottle cutter is designed to only score the bottles.
Instructions say you should only go around once. The silicone rings go above and below the score line, and you place the bottle in ice water for a bit, then pour hot water in between the rings (over the scored glass) and the top pops right off.
Very clean lines after you find the right technique. I've been making flower containers, and can't really speak to drinking out of the final product. The edges look rough though, you'd need to round them with the sand paper provided.

I had a slightly different experience with this than hunderpants. I went through half a dozen bottles but was not able to get a cut to line up. I am not sure why I can't get it lined up properly but other than that, this thing is pretty neat. The other thing I played with is some sort of finish for the bottle to keep the label from peeling off. I tried sanding sealer...no good. You need something thick that will coat/envelop the outside of the bottle if you choose a bottle with s paper label.
I will revisit this guy again later in the week...might make a good vase for mothers day if I get a good cut (or spend some time sanding!)
