I really wish Massdrop admins would check the prices of competitors before starting their drops. Half of this drop is a good price, the other half is the same price or cheaper on Amazon with Prime shipping. The pasta press is $35 more expensive on Amazon. The grain mill isn’t even available on Amazon and private sellers are taking advantage of that and selling it for an insane price. And the same goes for the juicer. However, the sifter and scale is the same price as listed here on Amazon. Then, it gets even worse. Skip getting a set of two pasta cutters on here. Instead, get a set of three (roller and two cutters) on Amazon for $112 or, if you just want the two cutters, they can be had on Amazon for $90. But, why not step it up a notch? Get the roller and FOUR cutters for $200 on Amazon instead of buying the roller and two cutters for the same price, here.

GarrrgoyleI was checking the same thing because I don't buy anything from massdrop any more. It seems like what is being dropped is the ball and not the prices because how can you excuse not doing a simple Google search for an item before putting it up. Massdrop has just become a place to find interesting things that I wouldn't think about and then I find where I will actually get it from. Waiting for shipping is bad enough but through on bad pricing and it almost makes Massdrop a waste of time.

russjkerrThere are some items that are worth it. But they seem to be fewer and farther between than previously. You would think as the site grows, the buying power and deal making abilities would also increase, but that’s just not happening. Group buys are supposed to be cheap. That’s the whole point. Like you said, waiting for shipping should be offset by the good price. When there’s no good prices to be had, the site becomes pointless.
