What I did, owning an android phone.. I got a 12 dollar adapter from amazon. Downloaded torquelite, a free diagnostics app. Which gives me clear comprehensive info on check engine codes, and live engine readings, with an ever so light almost half second delay. Beats out my uncle's over 500 dollar Snap-on reader, and diagnostics almost tablet lol. I've seen plenty of people, putting tablets in there dash connected directly to the obd2 connection for even more accurate readings for speed, and RPMs, vacuum, psi, air fuel ratio, whatever your heart desires, using torque lite (I think that's how it's spelled.) Works for me! 1998 Gs300 and a Samsung Galexy S5 smartphone.

FoobTorque lol to each there own! I personally have dash command and I am a car guy. I was looking for a obd2 reader as I am tired of gauges and sensors. To me it's simple, buy a cheap adapter or buy a great adapter. For racing and everyday use I bought this directly from the MFG and wish I didn't as it's cheaper here. Half second to me means 10 minutes in my world and dashcommand + KIWI has been great. Pulls hardly any power and I can leave it overnight hell yah! Waiting for the $84.99 drop and I am getting one for the misses! Thanks for your torque pic bud!

BigNandoThat's great, well then this adaptor has a purpose for the rally/racing /autocrossing but for the Average joe, for trouble shooting/ testing, a 12 dollar investment and a cheap/ free for the lite version little app, is good enough for me and my needs lol. Has certainly saved my butt plenty of times when I'm not near my uncle's place, or helping my friends out before they visit the mechanic to know the route cause, and to well inform themselves thourghly, before anything hesty. BigNando, whatcha riding in? Wish I could get into racing one day lol.

BigNandoI don't drive my car on weekends, since we have a baby, we usually use the o'lady's car. Is it ok to leave this thing connected throughout the weekend?
Let's say I wont be using this on my daily driving, maybe just once a month just to read some stats and make sure the car is OK, do you still recommend this model or am I better with a cheap alternative? Thanks.
