How many people have to ask the same question....I’ll be the 3rd....why does this mention a “complementary fixed blade”??? C’MON MASSDROP!! The “drop” is almost over and you still haven’t even clarified what it even entails! Is this a typo? Or does this knife actually come with a fixed blade knife as well? If there’s a fixed blade in there too, then I’m in. If not, I’m out. So, kinda need to know MD....

I received my Kane today. It came with a Kizer Siren not a fixed blade knife. https://www.amazon.com/s?k=kizer+siren+t105a3&ref=nb_sb_noss

Well that is far from a fixed blade knife. How does that happen? Can’t blame that one on auto correct. “Damn auto correct, it changed whistle to fixed blade again. My bad guys.” Ha. Well, I passed on this one because of the uncertainty(and the weight of the Kane), but thank you for following up with me. Much obliged. 👍

I bought the Kane over a year ago at $40, at this price stay away. It is a solid knife, smooth deployment and good lockup. I don't carry it often as it's a beast but when I do it gets used and keeps an edge. No regrets....at $40

Reviews published here from a year ago quote this knife dropping for $39.99! In that context, today’s drop for just over $80 then sound like a pretty crappy deal. However—relative to what you are getting—the price is pretty great. [No shame in admitting that the optics suck, though, if you dwell on ‘last year’s deal(s).]

Very heavy linerlock that can be had for $82 at knifecenter. Nice blade shape though.

Expensive (for what it is) pocket tank. And 3 whole dollars off is a real bargain, said no one, ever. Especially when amazon has it at that price with free shipping.

Mass drop doesn't seem to understand that every price in the knife market that's 10000% of is just the standard price. The sale is a lie. It's pretty sad to see Mass drop consistently outdone by Amazon when it comes to knives.

Disappointing it's in VG-10 rather than something nicer. It looks unique.

The tip of the blade crumbled off when I was cutting something. I was pretty shocked, didn't expect it to be so fragile. Disappointed.

Yeah, I did, and they wanted $30 bucks for a replacement blade. I didn't feel like it was worth it.

That's kinda fucked, if it was an issue of manufacturing flaw (which I'm guessing they contested), it would be on them to replace or refund.

Just received mine today (in Australia, second assisted through customs no issues, so happy days!) packaging was a little squashed but no real issue. Agreed with F3cepalm on the "Made in China" label gumming up the blade, but it just took a little cleaning and all good now.
Overall I am very happy with the knife, the grip material is fantastic even with the oiling on the knife. The flip functions smoothly, just took some getting used to as my only other flipper is a Kershaw Scrambler which has a very assisted opening mechanism. Finish of all surfaces is bang on.
It is certainly on the larger and heavier side of things, but for me that is not a negative. For a bigger knife it actually feels about the same, if not a touch lighter, than the Scrambler. Certainly feels larger in the hand but less 'dense' overall. (Photos show that it is indeed slightly heavier)

The fit is also worth noting for my example, as there is no tip exposed, the frame lock engages very satisfactorily, and the bearing is very smooth. The only draw back is that if you don't put enough energy into the open, your blade is only partially deployed, yet is balanced to the point of neutral (if not slightly tending towards reclosing but emphasis on the 'slightly'). Again, my reference for the action is the Scrambler, which is very automated, so will just take some getting used to.
Overall I am very happy with the knife and the drop from Massdrop. The only thing will be how it fares over time. But I would happily purchase again.

Agreed to what the above comment said, generally. A little bit of lubrication and use really minimized the deployment issue. Your tip doesn't appear to visibly protrude a little as mine did, but it looks pretty close. If you run a finger along the bottom, do you feel the tip? Be careful when reaching for it when clipped to a pocket. I got myself good a few times before I realized what was happening and took the blade down a bit.
It is a very dense knife. But it doesn't feel more unwieldy for it, just sturdy. Still wouldn't suggest getting it if you're not comfortable taking down the blade, even on these pictures you can see how the end of the knife curves shorter, bringing the tip very close to being exposed, if not actually exposed like it was on mine. The scrambler doesn't curve shorter, in comparison, meaning there is a few more mm of handle preventing you from grazing the tip of the blade when closed.

I just received this knife. Kizer packaging was beat up, and the internal plastic shell was pretty scuffed. Metal and plastic were covered with fingerprints, knife had some scratches. Appreciate the apparent quality of the blade, it's a pretty hefty knife. Didn't appreciate the complementary "made in china" sticker that left residue on the blade. Tip of blade protrudes slightly when closed, cut my hand and fingers open several times while carrying via the clip.
You should probably pass on this one unless you're willing to take the blade tip down a bit.

40 for a large VG-10 flipper is a great price. (Un)fortunately not my cuppa, being over large and heavy.

Seems like a decent price, and Kizer usually makes decent flippers.
Yes it is a bit heavy, maybe not an EDC knife for everyone. It does look nice.
VG-10 is pretty nice as well. It's no modern "super steel", but it is a very nice metal regardless.
Looking forward to this one!

This is a good deal as was the Kizer roach. I had a chance to use the Kane last week, this is a slightly heavy folder but overall a nice knife, smooth flipper.

I handled this version a year ago. Was instantly in love with it. Still managed to hold off buying it for all that time. At this price however. No way was I able to resist.
It's a damn steal at pretty much 50% the normal price.
