Looks like these knives are discontinued. Found still for sale in a couple places, ranging from about $120-$145. So I think this is an excellent value. Too similar to other knives I already own, I think I'll pass. Too many even better knives out there now.

ConsumerAdvocateJust curious as to what "Better Knives" are there? This is pretty much an Ideal size and form factor for me, S35VN is great steel and aside from the blade shape I'd already be in on this drop. I'd be really interested to see some similar/Better ones!

SlobloBetter typically comes at a cost, and has components ranging on the objective vs subjective spectrum.
IIRC S35VN has had problems at it's introduction that may or may not have been solved by now. From the testing I've seen it's sister steel S30V is better for most folding knives, though I haven't conducted any tests myself to confirm.

SlobloThe knife being offered here says its blade steel is VG-10, not S35VN. Both are great steels, but they do have significantly different properties and statistics. Here's a very good comparison of the most commonly used steels in knife-making: http://bladereviews.com/knife-faqs/knife-steels/ . VG-10 is rated a little lower than S35VN, but is still an excellent steel. But if you're thinking of buying this listing because of it being made of S35VN and that's what you really want, this listing doesn't fit your bill because this one is made of VG-10.

MDDogeAt launch S35VN did have issues. However, they were fixed INSANELY fast thanks to good ol Chris Reeve. It now performs as intended, and beats S30v as it was made to do.

pyrobunnyGood to hear it was fixed, but I thought S35VN was supposed to be a side-grade, not an upgrade to S30V; slightly less wear resistant, slightly tougher, and easier to machine and sharpen. S30V is towards the brittle side of knife steels, so I can see how the S35VN might have ended up performing better, but I don't think it was meant to be.

SlobloIn researching this, I ultimately decided I won't get in on this drop, purely because the Ki5404 exists in S35VN, with a slightly larger blade and same aesthetic otherwise.

PrimeSolGlad my typo helped you come to a decision. VG-10 is a more than adequate steel for most uses, but I personally prefer Crucible's steel cuz MURICA

SlobloMost of what I carry now is sub 3" blade size, so the slightly more premium steel and extra real estate sold me. I like the sliciness of VG-10, but I want something a little more hard wearing in a fatty.
And yes, I appreciate the push!
