This was my first Kizer, and I'd agree; it's something of a good news/bad news story. The good news first. The materials are excellent: G10, titanium bolster and very good steel. Kind of reminded me of early Benchmades. My blade is well centered and locks up tight, without any lateral play. This knife is MUCH heftier than I thought it would be. Has a chunky feel. The G10 is pretty deeply etched so it's very "grippy."
Now the bad, or maybe, other news. The edge was definitely poorly sharpened. Because this is a very tough steel, it took some work with a fine diamond hone. No excuse for that, in my book. The thumb studs ARE worthless: the only way you can open this knife is with the flipper. This was my first assisted opening knife, so I was a bit concerned about its inadvertent deployment in my pocket. I don't think that's going to be an issue. A bit of TriFlow and working the knife and the opening is getting smoother, but not too loose. The flipper does serve as an excellent finger guard. The pocket clip is stiff, but I'd rather have that than too loose.
I think the price was reasonable given the materials used. However, the variations in QC that are described in this thread should be a bit of a red flag. Sounds to me like some of the other Chinese knifeworks, such as WE, ship a superior product, albeit at a higher pricepoint. You DO get what you pay for.
