2 hours – replying to Data @dtw898 i am confused where you read or saw in the pics of this drop that this knife had bearings? if you are having issues deploying the knife open the pivot is possibly not the issue.... user error and possibly getting adjusted to a knife with a ball bearing blade detention (look inside the frame of the lock... you'll see it, a small single ball bearing). which is a feature... designed in helping keep the blade closed. the very style of this type of knife isnt meant to be a flip out fast knife..the back flipper is just like many others (like CRKTm16) it has a back flipper but doesn't mean its a super fast auto style knife. if i recall was disgned for single hand operating with gloves on. my review: so far, ive been carrying this kizer ki401b1 nonstop edc since i got it, is nothing but good. i cant stop looking at it....its a sexy looking frame.... unlike any other kizer design its a good one.... back and forth lines make and keep gripping easy. I've passed it around to friends proudfully seeing and judging people's reactions. most are almost shocked... the ones that know good steel and craftsmanship are also shocked and at closer inspection.... see the s35vn engraved blade and are impressed and envious. out of the box this knife came almost soaked with oil...good couple wipe downs fixed that. i do have some cons i can list but are mostly user preferences. like... - the clip, which i saw to be problematic before i purchased or got it in hand. although titanium, the clip seems a bit weak....sporting a single screw seems like a bad call. the clip play flexing a bit much more than i am used to (such as spyderco's slim steel design..my older edc) the flexible clip, over time i have found, also allows to get the very grippy titanium frame some room to be removed from a pocket or waistband....which is needed, due to the liner lock adjustment screw.the clip is ill placed adjacent to the lock adjustment screw. poorly designed flush against the head of the screw dig into clothing while trying to draw the knife from a pocket or waistband. . also the clip itself has a big profile end...making it annoying to rub against your hand or have possibly paint scratch issues on brushing against a car or whatever....(also unlike spyderco...thick but slim profile) to be honest if i can find aftermarket parts or a smith i would replace the stock clip, or hammer the end down a bit. -rear blade jimping... is very smooth and hard to get a good grip of my thumb.(unlike spyderco very deep almost sharp jimping) i may take a file to sharpen the jimping. -the size is a bit smaller than i thought...the demensions were given so i should have made a cardboard model to see size in my hands. i wanted a rugged, end of days, edc, tactical, secondary to my fixed blade, folder....large folding knife capable of defense and a tool... this knife is all of that and very nice sized knife, i just have big hands i suppose. all this considered this knife (so far <1 month edc) i give this knife a 9 out 10 of because the clip only.

new2massdropnew2, it was my own faulty assumption that this Kizer came with ball-bearings giving the size of the folder. I thought washers were out and ball-bearings are in when it comes to production folders coming from China selling over $100+ since the incremental cost of adding ball-bearings should not be that much more.
I shared the same feeling you have about the clip so I took it off the folder to eliminate the bothersome feel of weak clip against my palm.
Regarding the flipping action using the back flipper only, I'm beginning to "score" a few successful flip here and there (probably 1 out of 5) probably due to my index finger muscle getting trained while attempting to flip it.
Overall, it is a beautiful folder.
Cheers!
