I'm a knife guy but am glad none of these Kizer knives appeal to me or I would be broke.
Not sure why, maybe it's just that it's always the same stuff over and over in a different shape.
thats a good looking piece beggin for an ano job. I like the length of the knife and materials and Always been happy w my Kizer products. Wonder how well it carries at 4.7oz? Anyone care to "weigh" in?
Mine might be better than average, but I've never seen someone else's review say anything that really contradicts my feelings about it. It's smooth, like the lockbar is extremely well tuned and the pivot is killer for a Kizer, and I think if the design speaks to you this is one of the models that might be worth modifying.
If I were in a better place financially I would without a doubt send it to someone to mill out the internals and then to BladesWeLove. But I can't go buying hundreds of dollars in mods to simply lighten a knife that carries well enough in most pants, so I just carry it with jeans or what have you.
I'm stacking up Kizers too, they're hard to sell because they're so decent and the resale isn't very high, so I end up just keeping them all.
OmniseedI love Kizers and also own several g10 models. Great value knives overall. As far as the ti models ive sent out a zt for custom ano to the tune of about $50 after round trip shipping included so i have been building an inexpensive anodize setup that will go up to 90 volts DC or so to do all colors. The process is fairly simple from what I have researched and i have 85% of the stuff just need to set aside a little time to get the rest and start trying it out. I bought the Kizer river cat specifically with a 2 tone ano job in mind on those crazy swirly milled handles.
As far as milling out the liners/scales etc i have considered it on several of my knives and may try it one day as i like tinkering and customizing them but even heavily skelotonized liners might shave less than a half ounce at best but some knives that makes or breaks it for me if its 5 oz vs 4.5oz it is noticable in pocket so id Still like to try it.
This is a very good deal on this knife - $195 everywhere else (including Amazon, but Amazon usually lowers prices when Massdrop lists one - check out camelcamel). I have the Vanguard version from an earlier drop and it is really nice.
Damn_TrueIt's about as large as a full size grip, but it doesn't look or feel like one at all in person.
The scales are very well rounded though, so I guess maybe it does share some of the grip ergos.
OmniseedCool. Just looks a lot like the silhouette of the grip, and in gray w/ blue accents it just instantly reminded me of the newer G10 scaled grips
