I loved the design of this blade and ordered it about 1 year ago, and when it arrived I was not let down. The Kizer Vanguard feels very much like my Strider SNG in terms of how well it flips, and the handle comfort is amazing. My biggest complaint is that everything seems to stick to the blade... Might be a finishing issue but im not quite certain. Other than that I love this thing.
Excellent fit, finish with quality materials. As others have noted the blade is not VG10 as the Overview states. Very smooth, no issue with the detent.
It's probably one of the smoothest flippers I have but the detent is so weak you have to press the flipper tab with authority to make sure it deploys. Also, I don't know for sure but I don't think its 5.4 oz, and the blade is bholer n690. Drop seems to mess up details like this a lot.
Beautiful piece, nice overall design, the stonewash is beautiful, and the G-10 handle feels great ! action is perfect out of the box, but please note it’s not VG-10 steel as described but Bohler N690, quite similar but it has to be noted !
Kizer makes high value knives with good fit and finish as well as better materials than the competition at the price point. The sovereign is my 7th Kizer. I own 4 g10 models and 3 ti framelocks bc i like what Kizer is doing. The sovereign has nice contoured g10 scales and is a solidly built knife overall. A bit portly but the huge chunk of vg10 steel cant be lightweight. Beautiful blade shape with lots of belly and shaving sharp in the stonewash finish they do so well. Feels like it rides on bearings with a nIce smooth action. Decent 2 way tip up clip. Overall the knife appears large but in hand its actually feels thinner than it looks. Thick liners and lock barfot solid lockup . skelotonized on the non lock side. Small gripe I wish Kizer would slim down their flipper tabs on all their knives as they are a little obtrusive but not a big deal. Overall a quality knife for a reasonable price. I would buy again and i would use massdrop to do it.
Used it for a bit, very nice knife. Good edge retention vs resharpening, strong lock, good ergonomics on the grip. I like the weight of it, but it is noticeably not light. Good shape and style for pocket carry and yard use. Would buy again.
