This is actually the first purchase I ever made from Massdrop probably over a year ago and I got the black handle model as there was no option for the blue and black at that time for some reason but it is a pretty nice knife for the money. Good action and fit and finish and plenty sharp out the box. runs on bearings, nice beefy thick blade, it's a little hefty but it's definitely for hard use. Not sure if this model has switched to 154cm blade steel or not like some of the other vanguard Series. mine is the VG10 which is fine too. I own quite a few Kizers and I have always had good luck with them. good quality and value. I would recommend.

Can Massdrop confirm these have the blue and black handles? It says so in the description but also show black handles in some pictures.

Hate to say this Massdrop, I really wanted to buy from you... Amazon it's $55 with free shipping (2 day if your a prime member) and it's in multiple styles. Your price is $50 + shipping (for me it was $7.50)

Gaurdian23Yes, I assumed the shipping would be free then it came up $7.75 for me, no deal. Not sure why it was so much. Usually with knives it is free or around three bucks.

Glad to see this is available - I own the Sovereign in Blue/Black G10 and love mine. To clarify, unless they made a change in their Chinese manufacturing facility, this does not ride on bearings. I've disassembled and cleaned mine and found it runs on phosphor bronze washers. The action does not suffer though due to the fact that the heavy blade snaps out and falls relatively shut with the right care. One thing I recommend is for anyone that has a strop, do yourself a favor - clean and strop/shine the washers and place them back into the knife when reassembling. makes a huge difference. I love mine and am considering a flipper delete. Also, I made a video on my YouTube page about how to swap the clip out for a compatible deep carry. With those three mods I'd definitely give this a 10/10. PLUS... VG10 versions of kizer models are being phased out, so grab em while you can!

So the knife showed up but no bag? Bought it actually for the frigging camo case? Anything we can do? Not sure i can trust Massdrop anymore.

The 25 day wait is over lol. my first massdrop delivery arrived today. it was a surprise bc i wasnt sure what was being delivered until i saw the md logo on the package. knife is sweet. Beautiful blade shape and sw finish. Action is smooth like its on bearings and i cant see any bronze washers in the pivot area. Contoured g10 is nice. Only drawback is weight althou it is a larger knife w a 3.57" hefty chunk of vg10 blade steel but knew that going in. The value factor is always pretty good with Kizers with good f+f and materials better than most others at the price point. This is like my 7th kizer and they all are great imo from g10 to ti framelock models you get alot for the money and even better w the md discounts if you dont mind waiting on shipping. Overall happy with the experience . Oh and Kizer needs to bring back the full-size microfiber cloth. The one I got is about 2 or 3 x 3" maybe where the last g10 Kizer I bought (beglieter?) was twice as big and thicker. it works really well for polishing my blades of fingerprints etc.

I agree i would prefer the blue version and saw the same as the post below me. There was no option for blue when i paid Though. Still. Black is fine for the price. Almost didn't go through w the deal thou when i saw the shipping price but still worth it.

this is a good deal--maybe. Amazon has them for $71, with presumably their usual couple days shipping. Massdrop has them for $50--about $20 less with about 30 day's shipping. I guess it comes down to a matter of how big is your wallet, or how big is your monkey? Does look like a cool knife, yeah?

I bought my sovereign over a year ago. It was Actually my first MD purchase. I still own it and its definitely VG10 as were all vanguard series up til recently. Now Kizer has since "upgraded" blade steels to 154cm and n690 on the vanguard line. I believe 154CM is an upgrade but n690 not so much Imo for edge retention but it does have pretty good corrosion resistance. I own maybe a couple n690 knives and plenty of 154cm as well as vg10 among many other steels as well. I have the mini sheep dog in 154cm and do like that.
