If you’ve been wandering around looking for a gentleman’s folder with enough size to take on anything most tactical folders can, wander no more. Justin Lundquist’s Wanderer from Kizer is well balanced and understated. It features a sizable 3.5-inch blade made from premium S35VN stainless steel. Opening the blade can be achieved by rotating it with the thumb hole. Or, use two hands and open it like a classic gentleman’s knife. The handle is made with smooth, contoured titanium scales and a built-in frame lock for extra strength. The presentation side of the knife is as clean as it gets, leaving the holes for the clip on the back side.
Developed by Crucible Industries (one of the leading manufacturers of specialty steels for the cutlery industry) and Chris Reeve (pioneer of the integral frame lock, featured on the Gent), S35VN is perhaps the most balanced blade steel ever created in terms of all-around performance. It’s made through a process known as Crucible Powdered Metallurgy, which results in near perfect consistency in the distribution of carbides. Compared to conventional melting practices, the CPM process produces a steel characterized by superior dimensional stability, grindability, and toughness.
