Flashlights with long throw are excellent for lighting the way, signaling, and pointing things out. Capable of producing a beam up to 1,000 meters, the Klarus XT32 does all that to a tee—and it fits comfortably in one hand Read More
Why would you spend $65 on a flashlight with only 60% of the output of the Nitecore P18 that Drops at $79?
For that matter, if you want a "searchlight", why would you spend $65 on a 1,200-lumen Klarus light when for $230 you can have a 10,000-lumen Klarus?
cisco245Meh, I'd rather save a few bucks than get the garbage batteries included with the kit. Get some nice 3400mah Panasonic cells, and a nice Nitecore charger for maybe $20 for a much better experience.
It says that “At checkout, you can upgrade to the XT32 Kit with two 18650 batteries and a charger for (+ $11)”. The drop down menu says XT32, but it’s not the battery kit. The price doesn’t change whether you select XT32 or not. Are you going to add the rechargeable battery option or not?? @JonasHeineman
notadickSounds like a pro in my opinion, as I don't think hey would equip their cops with crap.
Another thing is all flashlights are made in china, if not their components were. If you want to boycott chinese flashlights maybe go get some candles instead
notadickThey also buy their own surefire flashlights as well. Better boycott them too. Wearing Nikes? Got that Kapernick stink on ‘em. Can’t live your life like that.
Massdrop(now just Drop) is continuing to drop the ball in so many ways. For this flashlight, the description gives zero information about run times. I could probably look that up elsewhere on the internet, but I should not have to. That information should be part of the description and/or specs on any site selling this type of high end flashlight. Also, no one from Drop has addressed a question asked in November of last year about whether this light comes with the weapons mount shown in one of the photos for this drop. I’m going to take a stab in the dark and say probably not. That should have been long since addressed though by Drop personnel and possibly offered as an upgrade if not included.
As this light is primarily being marketed as a thrower...
...and as candelas are the primary measurement of throw...
...and as Massdrop apparently isn’t interested in providing us with the max candela measurement for this light...
...I will tell you that this light is rated by the manufacturer at 250Kcd.
Is "throw" simply a function of the brightness? Or a combination of the brightness with how tightly focused the beam is?
Perhaps someone can enlighten me :).
I no longer see compelling reasons to get large flashlights, when I can get something with almost 1000 lumens that fits in the palm of my hand (such as the Folomov that regularly comes up on MD for a very reasonable price) and is plenty bright.
Major_InfidelThanks for looking into those chargers for me. Before you responded, I had already bought a charger from Amazon that’s supposed to be for the 26650 5000mAh 3.7V 18.5Wh battery that comes with the flashlight. I’m surprised and disappointed that Klarus doesn’t have a wall charger or adapter specifically made for their flashlight batteries. When I bought this flashlight, I assumed incorrectly, that because it came with a rechargeable battery, it would also come with the required charger, like every camera I’ve ever purchased. Anyway, we’ll see what happens when this charger arrives. The flashlight came half-charged so I played with it a little inside the house, and it is incredibly bright! I haven’t taken it outside yet but am curious to see how well it lights up my backyard.
