Heavy and bulky. I love my hammocks but normally use use them in 45’+ weather (not going to fool with underquilts, etc). I typically use an old Thermarest 3/4 length, lite pad on backpacking, bike and moto trips. I guess this mat would be o.k. for car camping but that’s probably it. One more item to add to the collection. Too bad because I’d really had high hopes.

TheWalkmanYou should try a cocoon rather than a quilt, no faffing and I just keep it connected and store the hammock together with the cocoon. Roomy and well ventilated so you get the benefits of a sleeping bag without the drawbacks.

Comfortable but heavy and bulky
I have used the Klymit Hammock V Insulated pad for two backpacking trips. The pad provides is comfortable and insulating. It is heavy, but that's the trade off you make to get the high R-value. The wings do keep my hammock spread out nicely. I use it in my Warbonnet Eldorado. It is a challenge to pack up in the morning while keeping it in the hammock. It's akin to wrestling an octopus; one V wing pops out, so I tuck it in and another at the far end says "my turn!" I haven't figured out a system yet. The procedure so far is to deflate it while I'm still laying on it, roll it up once to get the bulk of the air out, then roll it up a second time, folded as best I can. If any one has found a good process, please let me know. I like Klymit products, this is my second Klymit pad. The other is the regular insulated V pad. Unfortunately, it just does not stay put; the wings definitely serve their purpose.

Works great in my Eno double nest. Kept my back and sides warm at 45F I'm excited to see how well works in the winter.

Bought this for use in my WBBB during colder weather. My son used the pad during a recent trip that got down to 27 degrees, and stayed toasty warm. Will be looking to get another one for myself.

I have only used it in the hammock so far and all is good. It opens the hammock up. I am yet to use it in colder temperatures. I added a 2" plastic tube to my Exped pump bag and that fills it very quickly. I have had no trouble expelling all the air to pack it away.

I got the insulated version as I wanted to be able to sleep in my hammock even in the cold. In Late November with a -30 bag I couldn't have been warmer. Finally comfortable when the temp dropped below 20. Very happy I bought this.

I am absolutely thrilled with the performance of this insulated V pad. While it's a bit heavy for backpacking, I think it's a reasonable trade for the comfort and warmth for weekend or overnight trips. I've been down slightly below freezing by putting a mylar sheet under the V pad and a down quilt on top. I think my favorite feature is the wings that not only prevent CBS, they help form the interior of the hammock so you don't feel claustrophobic.
When the non-insulated version comes around, I'll probably buy it if there is a decent weight savings - that will get me through the summer months when I tend to take longer trips.
Klymit sells a long inflating bag pump that snaps on easily and lets you fill up the pad in 4-5 breaths. It works really well, but I'd like something in the same volume that can also be used as a stuff sack (e.g., wider than longer).

As a hammock camper, this is one of the best purchases I have made. The V Pad provides excellent protection from cold butt, arms, legs and feet syndrome. It is large enough so ypu can move around and sleep on your side. It is good down to the low 40's/high 30's. It may work for lower temperatures, but fo to my uder quilt when it is 35 degrees or lower. The pad also helps with getting a flat lay. The sticky sections of the V Pad keeps it from sliding around.
It is not for backpacking. This rhing is big and heavy. I have used it backpacking on short trips because I love it so much, but I wouldn't take on any 4 or longer day trips. The other opportunity for improvement is a light pump designed for this pad that doesn't take forever.
