I got this pad just after they came out. I use it in my Hennessy and tent, I camp off my goldwing bike so not backpacking but I love this thing... if put with the insulating pad Hennessy makes, witch is very lite, this combo is like a heated blanket... would buy it again in a nano second...

I wish this was a Klymit x Massdrop drop! The insulated pad would look rad in massdrop black, and I am a big fan of Klymit's previous joint drops with massdrop. I like repping massdrop on my camp gear 💪

I tried to hammock in the 60s with 1 1/4 in foam pad and that failed. I also tried my UL Klymit except that it was too I was fine. I'm not crazy about adding yet another piece of gear to my collection but I'd consider it.

All I use is a 1 inch thick , self inflating full length mummy style mattress by Therm-A-rest. The trick is to inflate it only about 1/2 to 3/4 of the way. This way it can conform to your body and the hammock but still offer insulation from underneith.

I prefer the self inflating pad to a under quilt for cool weather. Extream cold weather a under quilt would be better and a lot easier. In all my years I have used a under quilt only a couple of times. The self inflating matress all the rest of the time. The self inflating matress has one more benefit. If you have to use the hammock as a solo tent you still have comfortable insulation between you and the ground. Also if you are in warm weather the pad can be over to the side or partially under you. Then in the early morning hours when the cold butt syndrome kicks in , just slide it under you. When you find whats the best for you it will fell really good and offer a great nights sleep.

For this with Tentsile tree tents. These pads work amazing for cold weather months. I’ve been looking for about 6 months and this drop has the lowest price for the insulated v Pad.

I recently purchased the uninsulated version...and was now hoping I had something warmer. (Lovr how this blocks the wind and opens ths hammock. It’s very comfortable)
would it work to pair my pad with a thermarest foam pad? I tend to bring that backpacking for the versatility and quick deployment for breaks)

If you aren't a gram counter the econ line from here does the job... I have a 3/4 phoenix and a full length incubator at 30 and 0 degrees respectively. https://www.hammockgear.com/economy-incubator/

The arrowhead equipment ones are synthetic material and a good entry into under quilt useage. Or the costco down throws are on sale again you can google how to make that into one. Its an easy diy along woth the poncho liner underquilt. I really like my hammock gear quilts. But there are many options for underquilts.
