How often do these get dropped? Anyone got an idea when the next one will be? Are there still issues with sipping costs to mainland Europe?

Why are shipping costs 20 dollars for this 56 dollar mat, while the ultralight version shipping costs are just 5 dollars?

When flipping the inflate/default valve, the "wheel" will pop completely out of the sleeping pad. I can place it back in, but it pops out fairly easily. I imagine this is a manufacturing defect but thought I'd check with others before contacting Massdrop/Klymit. Has anyone else had this experience?

davetannenbaumOld post, but I will answer anyway :-) The valve and pad at all times are just one piece (if at some point you have two pieces in hand -- this is faulty product). Valve moves along its axis between open and closed position. However in order to lock the close position you need to twist it. If your valve opens by itself in LOCKED position it is a defect, but if it opens by itself in closed unlocked position I would say it is somewhat expected -- air pressure + friction in valve make it is possible and it is no surprise.

Do the pads in the drop as of May 28th, 2019 have the push/pull valve as shown in the pictures or the single flat inflate/deflate flip valve?

CarryOnRTWI ordered one about a month ago, and mine has a flip valve (i.e., not the one shown in the photo).

I got the Massdrop Ultralight V which also has a R-Value of 4.4. Although it is quite comfy, it doesn't have any insulation inside, and it is extremely cold compared to a NeoAir Trekker (which has a R-value of 2 only!). For me it seems that the R-Value of the Ultralight V is absolute nonsense and has never really been tested. Does this one has really been tested and is warmer?

bohwaz2I think something got mixed up in the specs you saw somewhere along the line. Klymit has ultralight versions of both the insulated and non-insulated pads, same size for both. If your pad doesn’t have “insulated” in its name (and it weighs about 12 oz), you’ve got the uninsulated one with a listed R-value of 1.3. I can’t vouch for the ultralight or light versions of their insulated pads, but I have a regular Insulated Static V and it is pretty warm.

I have a question about the Klymit insulated v static lite I just bought.the valve on it it says to flip it to inflate or deflate .Do you leave it flipped over like halfway to blow into it?it seems hard to blow into this way .The valve is like right in middle of where u blow into it .And I have blown a lot more than 15 breaths into it and it's not nearly close to being blown up .

SunnyGramThere's more resistance in the inflate position but you lose air when it's flipped between inflate/deflate. I leave it halfway so it's easy to inflate with my pack liner. It's full after 1 bag of air so I then quickly set it to inflate, losing a bit of air in the process, and then top it off with a partial bag. Obviously you can do this with your mouth as well.

Just picked our 2 pads up. At first we thought they shipped us the wrong ones. Out of the stuff sack they measured 84"L x 26"W and they have a new flat air valve with a flip inflate/deflate design. After inflating, the measurements were bang on: 72"L x 23"W. Deflating with this new valve is much faster than the older style one. We previously used our trash compactor bag liners to inflate with the old style valves so we'll have to see how these new ones will work an dhow they hold up. There's no reference to them on Klymit's valve page although a piece of paper with instructions and the Klymit logo was included.
Did anyone else get this new valve that's different than the pics for the drop? Here's some pics to see what we mean:

If you are blowing you don't want it in the middle, you want it in the "inflate" position.

CarryOnRTW Thank you for pointing this out it will help me make an more informed decision. Using a compactor bag to blow it up sounds like a brilliant idea never occurred to me as I am also using compactor bag to waterproof my sleeping bag and clothes inside my pack. I do know other pads have some kind of inflator bag which is nice because it keeps to a minimum the amount of moisture that can get in and it would be my preference. I would like to know if you can get it to work
