I live in arctic Norway and have used this in combination with a bivy bag, hammock, tent and cabins. I think it is a very comfortable bag design for a side sleeper who wriggles a lot, the temperature rating is realistic, and the construction is good too.
I got the oversized bag because I'm an oversized guy with a bit of claustrophobia. This bag works for both issues. The construction and materials are great. No loose threads or feathers. Most of my camping is in the Windrivers and Wasatch and the bag is warm enough for three seasons. I haven't used it in deepest winter, yet. My only real complaint is that the bag doesn't "breathe" like the 30 year old bag it replaced.
I'm 6'3" and 235lbs and my previous MEC bag was nice and light and warm, but too small for me. The Klymit KSB Oversie is, well, oversize. I've never had a mummy bag that fit me well until this one. There ear adjustments to the foot box to reduce the size if needed, and the hood area fits really well. TONS of room for me now.
It is not made of super ligth fabric, which is probably a good thong for bike packing, but it makes it hard to compress the bag to a small size. The increased bag volume and tendency to hold air make compressing it into my sweet roll a challenge, but I have figured out how to get it down to size with effort and patience. I use a Klymit Insulated Static V sleeping pad with it in my hammock and it's great. I really love Klymit gear.
I own the 20-degree regular size bag. I highly recommend purchasing. After a few boy scout trips using this bag in the cold I can confirm the warmth rating. Also to be able to stretch but not feel a cold spot is a complete blessing. This bag literally feels like a cloud.
Warm and comfy, but leaves lots of feathers on you
I just spent 9 days in Northern Alaska inside the Arctic Circle in this sleeping bag. Overall, while many others in my group were cold at night, I was very warm and toasty. This bag is definitely very warm. The size is also excellent and very comfortable for the larger folks (I am 225 pounds and had plenty of room). The only downside is that you come out of the bag looking fairly feathered, as the feathers seem to refuse to stay in the bag and I came out every morning with no less than 20-30 of them all over my body.
This is a great all around sleeping bag. Light, warm and comfortable. The stretch baffles are new to me and are a great addition to sleeping comfort. When I received my initial order, I was missing part of it so drop put me in direct contact with Klymit. Their customer service (and Drop's) was spot on. Quick, effecient, and effective. They were easy to work with and clearly stand behind their product. They make great gear.
I slept like a baby in this sleeping bag and my puppy even cralled in and slept by my feet. This is a well thought out piece of gear. You can zip this all the way up on a cold night and pull the draw string tight above your head so body heat stays inside. It also has pillows built in to the head area that fits perfectly around the neck. I thought this bag was gonna be to heavy to take backpacking, but its not much weight at all. I'm gonna hike to Waimanu valley in two days which can be a difficult hike at some parts with a lot of steep climbs up valley walls and gulches. I chose not to pack either of my down quilts but rather prefer the comfort of this klymit KSB. This is one of my best price for quality purchase on this site so far.
I’ve really enjoyed this bag. While backpacking in the Mount Rogers Wilderness Area in February it got down to 19F one night. Just wearing a base layer I was plenty warm and comfortable in the bag. There’s a little more room in the leg area than most mummy-style bags which was nice for a flopping side sleeper like me. I have not experienced much feather loss. It’s probably a bit heavy for long distance through hiking but otherwise it’s a very solid and reasonably priced bag. I would it buy again.
